Population Sizing for Sharing Methods
نویسنده
چکیده
Sharing methods promote the formation and maintenance of stable subpopulations or niches in genetic algorithms. This paper derives, for various models of sharing, lower bounds on the population size required to maintain, with probability , a xed number of niches. The rst model assumes all niches are equivalent with respect to tness and that crossover is minimally disruptive. The next two models allow niches to diier with respect to tness. The nal model takes into account the disruptive eeects of crossover. GAs with sharing are run on seven test problems in optimization and classiication, using population sizes derived from the models.

Deterministic Sizing of the Frequency Bias Factor of Secondary Control in Cooperation with Swissgrid Ag
An important challenge of grid control is the prediction of the frequency bias factor Ki so as to be as well matched to the actual frequency response characteristic βi of an area i as possible, in order to adhere to the principle of non-interaction in Secondary Control. In this report, new semi-online sizing methods based on extensive previous research and on the current operation policies in C...
متن کاملCost Sharing for the Economic Lot-Sizing Problem with Remanufacturing Options
We consider a new class of cooperative cost sharing games, associated with the economic lot-sizing problem with remanufacturing options (ELSR). As a preliminary step, we investigate the relative strength and integrality gaps of various mathematical optimization formulations of ELSR. Using insights from these results, we study the core of the associated cost sharing game. We show that the cost s...
متن کاملSEQUENTIAL PENALTY HANDLING TECHNIQUES FOR SIZING DESIGN OF PIN-JOINTED STRUCTURES BY OBSERVER-TEACHER-LEARNER-BASED OPTIMIZATION
Despite comprehensive literature works on developing fitness-based optimization algorithms, their performance is yet challenged by constraint handling in various engineering tasks. The present study, concerns the widely-used external penalty technique for sizing design of pin-jointed structures. Observer-teacher-learner-based optimization is employed here since previously addressed by a number ...
متن کاملModified Sine-Cosine Algorithm for Sizing Optimization of Truss Structures with Discrete Design Variables
This paper proposes a modified sine cosine algorithm (MSCA) for discrete sizing optimization of truss structures. The original sine cosine algorithm (SCA) is a population-based metaheuristic that fluctuates the search agents about the best solution based on sine and cosine functions. The efficiency of the original SCA in solving standard optimization problems of well-known mathematical function...
